So far no one has it completely right. Take the Airtrain to the train station. Hop on any New Jersey Transit train bound for New York (dont bother with Amtrak). Take it one stop to Newark Penn Station.
At Newark Penn Station hop on the PATH (you can only go one way on the PATH at Newark), and take it to Newport/Pavonia which is the next to last stop on that line. How do I get from Newark Airport to my hotel that is located in Jersey City ?
My friend, I agree with the last post, however, she made a small error.
You see, my friend, the PATH train the lady said take only goes between Newark Penn Station and the WTC. You want to go to Pavonia/Newport, that means you will have to change trains Journal Square station.
When you take NJ Transit from Newark Airport train station to Newark Penn Station, and transfer to the PATH, take the PATH train from Newark Penn Station to Journal Square.
Once at Journal Square, cross the platform and transfer to the eastbound train that will goes to 33rd Street, Manhattan. That train will stop at the Pavonia/Newport station.
I hope this information is very helpful.
Good luck and enjoy you trip

Take the Airtran to the Liberty-Newark International Airport Train Station. Transfer to the Amtrak or New Jersey Transit and take it to the Newark stop. Transfer to the PATH train (same station) that is bound for Hoboken. Arrive at Pavonia/Newport. Party.
Check out the Trip Planner at:

you can put in the time, etc.
Will take about an hour, but it is the inexpensive way to go.
