How to get to Novotel Athenes Hotel from the Airport?

I will be travelling to Athens in July. My flight will arrive at Athens Airport at 8:00pm in the evening. I will be living in Novotel Athenes Hotel. I have a few questions about the transportation from the airport to the hotel.

1) when is the latest suburban train departed from the airport to Larissis Station?

2) if I take the taxi, how much is the fare?

3) is it safe to take taxi in Athens? and what should I beware of?How to get to Novotel Athenes Hotel from the Airport?
I am not sure that the suburban train stops at Larissa Station. You have to check. Most trains stop at 23:00

A taxi from Omonia will cost you 40 to 60 Euros depending on the time and traffic.

Taking a taxi in Athens is safe, but you have to be a bit careful:

Make sure that the driver puts on the taxi meter immediately. He is obliged by law to do it. If not ask him to stop and just walk out. If they make any trouble call the police immediately.

There is a price list of the fare structure that should be at a prominent place in the taxi. There you can see what the driver will charge. It is usually the price of the taximeter plus the price of the Toll (~鈧?.00) plus the airport surcharge plus a fee for your luggage.

There is a chance that the driver will pick up other people on the way too. This is not allowed but it is done all the time. You could ask him not to.How to get to Novotel Athenes Hotel from the Airport?
Taxi will cost you +/-35鈧?

Taxis are safe.

Novotel Athens is also safe, but noisy %26amp; dull.

I have stayed there a week; never again.

Do not let that spoil your holiday however; Athens is beautiful and alive.

As for the metro:

Enjoy your stay.
Taxis are safe yes, but they can rip you off too. Espcially seeing that you are an ';American'; (I assume you are an American). It's best to travel with someone who is familiar with the city and knows the language well.
You have 2 options with the train,

- either take directly the metro (every half hour) the last one leaving at 23.30. In about 40min. you must change at Syntagma station to line 2 (direction Ag. Antonios) and get off at Larissis station. Ticket costs 6 euros one person, 10 euros 2 persons.

- or the suburban train (last one leaving at 23.50), but you must ask where to change (also 6 euros).

You could also take a bus (running all day long) for 3 euros, but it goes until Syntagma square.

A taxi should be something around 30 euros, depending on traffic on the way. A typical trick of unreliable taxi drivers is to run the meter during normal hours on the night tariff (you would see a number 2 in front of the price) so you must keep an eye on the meter the whole time (I had this at least twice from the airport). Except what the meter says, you pay an extra 3 euros for airport, 3 euros if they drive you through toll and 0.30 for each luggage above 10 kilos. I would prefer the train, unless you carry a lot of luggage. Otherwise, it is totaly safe, whether you are a man or a woman.

And yes, the area around Novotel is not very nice. Have fun, however.
