What is the best way to get from the Airport to Stratopshere Hotel in Las Vegas?

Taxi? Shuttle? Public Transportation? There are only 2 of us and Limo seems to be a waste of money @ $45.00/hrWhat is the best way to get from the Airport to Stratopshere Hotel in Las Vegas?
The cheapest way is to go by CAT(bus)

CAB - probably $20 at least to go to the Stratosphere

Shuttle - $15 - $7.50 each

Bus - $2.50 - $1.25 each

And believe it or not the bus might get you there quicker. I have waited 30 to 45min in the taxi line. And the shuttles run when they run, you can wait quite a while for one going to your hotel..The Stratosphere does not have a free airport shuttle..

The CAT bus stops about ever 5 minutes, since both the #108 Paradise bus and the #109 Maryland Parkway (North) bus stop at McCarran..You can take either, ask the bus driver for a transfer when you get on, he will sell you a 24 hour pass for $2.50...Take either the #108 or #109 to Sahara Ave transfer to the #204 West bound Sahara bus, it stops at the Stratosphere...

The bus requires exact change(of course one of you can pay for both) A 24 hour pass will cost $5 if you board the Deuce(strip bus) .When we board anywhere other than the strip, it's $2.50 for a 24 hour pass.

To ride the CAT - In the airport walk towards the baggage claim area, just before baggage claim to your right is a down escalator with a sign overhead that reads ';ground level transportation 0 '; take the escalator down, the bus stop is to your right as you exit the doors...You can only use this option if you travel fairly light, they will allow a carry on and a briefcase. Sorry you will not be able to ride the bus if for a two night stay in Las Vegas you need three steamer trunks and team of sherpas to carry your luggage..What is the best way to get from the Airport to Stratopshere Hotel in Las Vegas?
Travel with one carry on suitcase each and you're fine. I sometimes also carry a briefcase and or large camera bag. I was just trying to make the point that you can't get ridiculous with the luggage and travel by bus.

There's nothing like a limo service. It adds something special to the aura and essence of Las Vegas. If you're already down there, then you might as well splurge a little. I use NTS (National Transportation Services) all the time when I go down there for vacation or convention (CES). I've used other limo services like ODS, CLS, and Bell and they are the absolute worst, especially the latter two. Their cars were never clean and the drivers were always late to pick up and in the middle of a charter they would always vanish when I would need them. I just go to NTSlimo.com when I need to place an order and they call you to confirm your reservation and then you're done. Excellent service and they are always professional and prompt and on time for pick up. The driver I always ask for is Tom (can't remember his last name at the moment).
CAB
Public transportation - it's close - but you can find taxi info and maps at lasvegas.com

Careful - pickpockets and soliciters are everywhere. Keep your wallet in front pocket for guys - and girls need a ';belt type purse worn around your waist';.

A thought to consider - if you want points, every casino has the ';key card'; to get your them. You establish a credit account.

They do a credit check on your, and they have your credit report.

Everyone knows what you owe, and every credit card you have, because when your name pops up for casino ID, they instantly have tons of information about you.

That is their ';COMP'; PROGRAM, and every casino has one.

If that is what you want, you will get just that.

No thanks, no comp program with my credit report advertised to anyone in any casino for me!

But if you want to have fun: Read on -

There are many deals at expedia.com and travelocity.com

There are casinos everywhere - so don't feel you have to lose all of your money at one location.

There are roller coasters on top of tall buildings.

There are white tigers on the first floor side area of the Mirage.

There are outside shows at Treasure Island.

Gambling:

There are many where you can lose $50 without even trying, then win $10, then win another $50.

It's easy to lose $100+ a day minimum, so if you're smart

you'll back away if you lose $20 - and try your luck another time, or another day.

Best location, and I stayed there January 2006, was the Mirage and it's next to Treasure Island, across from Venetian Grand canal, and down the street are Bellagio and the Eiffel tower.

You can walk everywhere, or take the bus when your feet get tired (very cheap).

Don't forget to lunch at the Eiffel tower - pricey but great, great food, and across from the fantastic Bellagio fountains that have themes - yes dancing fountains w/music when you're outside to hear.

Lunch also at the revolving restaurant -where you can see all of Vegas during the day - THE STRATOSPHER. The food was magnificent and you can see if you go at lunchtime - where the people of Las Vegas live and the mountains that surround it.

Las Vegas - I saw Jay Leno and he was non-stop for 1 %26amp; 1/2 hours of jokes, and we got the last 2 seats in the far section, and it was still somewhat close because the entertainment area was well done!

We went to see Mystere show - and the best is called ';O'; which means water in French. The stage actually opens for people to dive into, and then closes for people to walk on it.

So amazing.

At the end of 7 days, I was ready to come home. It's exciting, but not enough to say, wow someday I'd consider living there.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

MBA-Boston Univ.
I'd recommend a taxi. Plan on spending around $20 each way.

The limo money can be spent somewhere else more fun in Sin City!

Have fun!
Aloha from Down Unda!
